All dressed up and nowhere to go… except the kitchen
Posted by Anne
I’ve been wondering for years what could be so enthralling to these two ladies. A ham’s a ham, right? Hah! That’s where you’re wrong!
Carmen Askew, winner of our April caption contest, figured out once and for all what the culinary excitement is really about:

I laugh every time I look at this! Thank you, Carmen!
Before I go on to list the honorable mentions, I’d like to explain how I choose a winner. At the end of the month I go through all the captions, checking off a dozen or so that I especially like. I wait a few hours (thanks to my rapid mood swings, something that wasn’t especially funny two hours ago might be hilarious now). Then I go through the captions a third time, choose my absolute favorite… and I few more that were really, really hard to eliminate. Only then do I look at the names of the brilliant writers.
I shouldn’t have been surprised… but I was… that THREE of the captions I had chosen as contenders were submitted by Teresa McIntyre, winner of our February caption contest! (Keep your eyes peeled; in June you’ll be able to buy Teresa’s February caption… with a slight edit on which she and I agreed… as a magnet in our e-store!) This was my favorite of Teresa’s April submissions:

Meow! By the way, in the few times I’ve emailed with Teresa I’ve formed the image of a very lovely woman; someone who would never really say anything like this no matter how hard it was to hold her tongue. But I could be mistaken; you know how email can be. I’m guessing that some day I’ll do a “spotlight on Teresa” post that will be as inspirational as the March 23 post of Laura Hohnhold captions.
I also enjoyed these captions…
| from Jennifer Dunwoody: | ![]() |
| And Randi Cooper: | ![]() |
| And Craig Cadman: | ![]() |
Thank you all!
Despite my short-lived resolution to choose one and only one winner each month… Janice Sutherland will also win a $100 gift certificate to our e-store for her caption submission… which you can’t see until next Sunday!
Check out the caption contest page for May’s exciting challenge…

Yay me!! Though I do love Teresa’s caption, something I might say depending on my wine consumption or lack of! Can’t wait to see her other on Sunday!
Cheers!
I absolutely LOVE Teresa’s!!!!!!!!!
Would love that one to grace my kitchen.
Was having blah day and that was my first smile of the day.
Thanks
I cannot decide which caption I love more. I wish I had this kind of verbal delivery every day. Awesome job, ladies!
Funny thing about this caption, I ended up making dinner after all! However, I do get to spend $100 on my favorite website.
All of these captions are great! Nice job to all!
