It’s happy hour at last!
It was a lot of work.
A lot of work and countless cocktails.
But several months and many, many many bottles later my long-awaited (by me, anyway) cocktail recipe book, published by Chronicle Books, is finally available in our web store and in fine gift and book stores everywhere!
This summer’s favorite chez Taintor has been El Presidente. But as the evenings cool (which they are already doing here in Maine, by the way) I’ll be shaking up more Merry Widows, Peckerheads, and Brazen Hussies. I wish I could invite every one of you over for cocktails!
Saints and Sinners
As I reviewed the July caption submissions I kept being reminded of my favorite thing about Espanola, New Mexico, a town with not a whole lot to recommend it (unless you’re impressed by the fact that Espanola is #2 in the country in per capita heroin use). Espanola has a great little liquor store called Saints and Sinners. A small store… rather seedy… but a great sign. Perhaps the high point of driving through Espanola.
If I needed any more proof that endless hours of drilling catechism Q+A was time well spent, I have it now! Melanie Smith put her familiarity with the seven deadly sins to excellent use. Congratulations, Melanie! You are the winner of the July caption contest!
July Caption Contest Finalists
I sort of suggested we try to keep the captions “clean” this month. Just an experiment. My sincere thanks to the many fine writers who were able to make me laugh without mentioning either cannibalism or sex!
