Heaven in Hell
I happened to visit my Facebook Page (yes, I do that occasionally) and I happened to read about Amber’s French houseguest and her quest for exotic Anne Taintor sightings.
First, I would like to thank Amber (thank you! thank you!) for managing my page (since I am so obviously social-media-incompetent). Then I would like to ask – am I too late to submit my own most exotic sighting?
Desert Flowers
We’ve had a ton of rain lately, so the desert is blooming madly, and my house is full of flowers. I love it.

I love it, but I know it won’t last.
But now I know what to do when the wild profusion of blooms is past!
On Sunday, Nathan and I had lunch at the Santa Fe home of our friends Arian, Godfried, Iza, and Jan. Great company, great food… and a great new idea! Arian had told me about the “flat flowers”, created by Dutch artist Suseela Gorter, that she had recently imported. On Sunday I finally got to see them in real life, and they are fabulous!

My windows will soon be full of them… and all my friends will be enjoying them as well. They also are – or soon will be – available in greeting card size. It’s the only way I know of that you can send a bouquet for $5.95 plus stamp. Check out Arian’s website and fill your home with flowers!

I love June. I hate computers.
Especially new ones. I took a zillion pictures of my gorgeous June garden, or our beautiful June sunsets, and of the bluebirds nesting on my front portal… but I can’t figure out how to load them onto my new #%&@*!!!!! computer. So I hope you won’t mind a few pictures of the same scene a couple years earlier. The flowers are bigger this year, but the bluebird looks just about the same.
I Love Not Camping

When my partner and I first bought our dream land in New Mexico, we visited it in our tent (that little blue dot) for several years before we built a home. I loved camping! The air! The stars! Being totally immersed in all this rugged Northern New Mexico beauty! I even loved camping in the rain!

It was so wonderful I swore that even after we built our home I would still camp out several times a year. We moved into our home in December of 1999. Guess how many times I’ve camped out since then?
(If you guessed 0 you are correct.)
Signs of Spring
There’s still snow on the north slopes, and the mercury still hovers below 30° when I head off for my morning walk… but yesterday, while hiking in the canyon, I saw a sure sign that our Northern New Mexico winter is at last coming to an end: the first lizard of spring! Who knew I’d ever be so happy to see a reptile? And that means…

YES!!!!! My garden is about to start kicking some serious ass! Time to break out the gardening gloves and my favorite spring Shopper!
