The Search for America’s First Top Models
Do You Know These Women?
As part of our silver anniversary, we are launching a nationwide hunt to identify and honor the women behind the images that Anne Taintor uses—all of them real women who modeled for advertisements in the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
Only a handful of them have been identified over the years; their biographies
can be read here. They have come to be affectionately known in company circles as the Taintorettes, and their stories speak to the lives of so many women over the past several decades. These were working women before the phrase was invented. They were also wives, mothers, artists, and individualists.
Below are some models who have been beloved by our customers for years. Anyone who can identify one of these Taintorettes—as well as the newly discovered Taintorette herself—will receive a $100 gift certificate for Anne Taintor products from www.annetaintor.com. Please send any information to cs@annetaintor.com.
