Captions by Turquoise Taylor Grant

Turquoise Taylor Grant

October 4, 1966 – May 29, 2012

Turquoise Taylor Grant, a magnificent woman loved by many and enjoyed by many more, passed away on May 29 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 45. The world lost Turquoise much too soon.

You know Turquoise for her incisive wit and elegant turn of phrase as a beloved caption writer for Anne Taintor, Inc.. But there is so much more to Turquoise.

Julie Kristine Upper was named after her two aunts. But Julie never felt like a Julie, and when she turned 21 she changed her name to Turquoise Taylor Grant. Her aunt Julie will be the first to tell you that Turquoise is the true and proper name of this beautiful soul.

Turquoise was wildly creative. She was a singer-songwriter, an actress and an artist. And as we all know, she was a wonderful writer. I am honored to have been the beneficiary of Turquoise’s writing talent. What will we do without her?
