As his wife was organizing their office, Brian Kasler happened to walk by and was stunned to recognize his grand-aunt, the late Janice Siesel Winterling, gazing back at him from a file folder on his wife’s desk.
And now the set is complete! Several years ago we learned the identities of Katharine Aldridge and Georgia Carroll, the two beauties who accompanied the lovely Mrs. Winterling on this file folder set. We are so excited to finally know every member of this glamorous gang!
Janice Siesel was born February 27, 1914 in Mount Kisco, Westchester County, New York. In 1935 she graduated from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, then worked as a model before marrying Henry Frederick Winterling in 1937. The pearl cross she wears in her wedding photo, a gift from her new mother-in-law, is still worn by her grand-niece.
Janice and Henry had no children of their own, but took in three teenagers after their parents were killed in a car accident.
In addition to caring for her new family, Janice founded and ran Janice Winterling, Inc., a successful real estate firm in Mount Kisco. In the 40s, 50s, and 60s Janice sold real estate to many of New York’s elite clientele who were looking for a country setting with close access to New York City. In 1969 was named Realtor of the Year by the Westchester Board of Realtors. Sadly, Janice died that same year.
